These shots were taken above Arizona on my way to Tucson. The scenery mostly caught my eye because of the erosion and drainage patterns combined with hard layers in the geological make up of the whole landscape. And the light was pretty too.
I am a graduate student in Earth and Ocean Sciences with a focus on the interaction between geology, ecology and climate in tropical South America for the past 65 million years. To gain more insight in this complex system, I try to reconstruct the climate history based on sediment samples, fossils and their chemistry. Being out in the field creates the perfect occasion to document and share some of the regions where only a few of us ever make it to. View all posts by Wout S.
