As the new mission statement reflects, the “Maine Audubon Society is dedicated to the protection, conservation, and enhancement of Maine’s ecosystems through the promotion of individual understanding and actions.”  I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day for a walk around Gilsland Farm. Numerous trail options lead you through diverse habitats, and I chose my path through open fields, a mixed coniferous forest, and alongside a tidal marsh. The abundance of wildlife and scenic views act as a reminder for why protecting the environment is so important.
