Marika Cowan

Marika Cowan is an illustrator/animator currently living and working in New York City. Originally from Maine, she grew up spending much of her time hiking, camping, and swimming in the glorious Maine wilderness. She attended Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, where she earned a BFA in Illustration. These days, she uses her artistic superpowers to earn a living as a freelance illustrator and cel animator for NYC production companies. In her free time, she explores Manhattan and Brooklyn in search of the tastiest soup dumplings, ramen, tacos, and cocktails.

    1. I actually have never been to Joe’s Shanghai! I’ve been told it can get a bit crowded/touristy there, so I usually go to this other place close by on Mott Street, called Shanghai Cafe. The soup dumplings are just as good (if not better) and it’s less of a tourist trap!

      1. Oooh! I will have to try that when I get back to the city! Joe’s Shanghai has a midtown location that is far less crowded, and less touristy, albeit not in China Town. If you want to try it, I recommend that location.
